Everyone is welcome to come and bring a picnic to the park, we have several picnic areas around the park see the park map for where to find them. Sorry – no barbecues in the park though!

There’s lots to do on a visit to
Gedling Country Park!
Children’s play area
Come along and enjoy one of the top play areas in the borough! It incorporates the park’s mining heritage with a mining tower slide, mining train and old pit grasslands.
The park also has a toddler area, complete with swings, slides and a wheelchair accessible roundabout.
Older children will enjoy flying down the zip wire!
Viewing platforms
The park’s two viewing platforms showcase spectacular scenery for!
Memorial garden
Visit this area to find out more about the mining heritage of the site.
Café 1899
Our fabulous café continues the mining theme and boasts wonderful views and delicious hot and cold food.
Exercise
There are lots of other routes you can take for walks, runs and cycles around the park, just remember to keep to the left on paths and let people pass easily.
Nature trail
The accessible High Hazles route includes a wonderful nature trail to follow and discover carvings of eight animals which can be found within Gedling Country Park.
The trail starts just after the children’s play area. To complete the trail you will need a nature trail leaflet and a crayon, which you can purchase from the café for 20p. The leaflet tells you all about the wildlife at the park and other things that you can look out for during your visit.
British native tree trail
Pick up a leaflet at the visitor centre (suggested donation 20p) and follow the park’s tree trail, featuring 50 species of British native trees. There are two routes including a pushchair and wheelchair friendly one. The routes are named after coal seams: Near and Far.
Follow the map on the leaflet and look out for the tree marker signs. You can read more about the trees by scanning the QR code on the signs.
Volunteer
You can volunteer to help with the upkeep of the park! Our team of brilliant volunteers meet every month to help with all kinds of tasks, from helping out at events to maintaining paths, planting trees and cutting back foliage. To find out more about volunteering with us email [email protected]
