Café 1899

The park has a fabulous café situated within the visitor centre, close to the Spring Lane entrance and children’s play areas. Named after the colliery that previously inhabited the site, the café offers stunning views over the park and surrounding areas.

Food and drink

Café 1899 offers a range of hot and cold food and drinks, homemade cakes, cooked breakfasts, jacket potatoes and paninis.
The menu changes frequently and we use local suppliers and locally sourced food in our dishes. We offer vegetarian and gluten free options, just ask at the counter.

Planning a celebration? Why not pre-order a whole one of our delicious cakes? Give us a call on 0115 926 1388 for more information.

Seating

The café’s indoor seating area seats 75 people and visitors can take in information about the heritage of the site.

There is an outdoor seating area to the front of the café. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area, but need to be on a lead.

The café also operates a take away service from the hatch, perfect to grab a coffee on the go or a treat to take home after a walk or cycle.
